How to make Watermelon Popsicles For Cats?
Ingredients needed:
1.Watermelons
2.Plain Yogurt
3.Ripe Bananas
4.Water
5.Honey/Maple Syrup.
Equipments Needed:
To make Watermelon Popsicles, you will need the following equipment’s:
-A popsicle mold or tray with small holes.
-Knife to cut the watermelon into cubes for your Watermelon Popsicles. (It is recommended that you only use a sharp knife if you are comfortable using one – it is much safer than just cutting it with a regular kitchen knife!)
– A freezer safe container to store your WaterMelon Popsicles once frozen; I recommend choosing an airtight container so that nothing leaks out when storing them in your freezer.
– Watermelon popsicle sticks or wooden skewers .
– A blender to mix the water, yogurt, banana and watermelon together into a slushy consistency.
Method Of Preparation
The first step in creating these tasty treats is to buy some fresh watermelons at the grocery store – preferably ones with red flesh so they look like traditional watermelons on top of ice cream cones.
Once home, cut the watermelons into two and remove all the seeds. You need to carefully remove all of the seeds from the watermelon, since they contain high levels of toxic compounds and can cause digestive upset in cats.
Watermelon is naturally sweet, so you may not need to add any additional sugar or other flavorings. You can choose to add honey or maple syrup as additional sweetners as per your preference.
If your cat enjoys the taste of banana, add a ripe mashed banana to your blender. This is optional and you can skip adding bananas.
Cut out the fleshy red parts of the watermelons and chop them up into small pieces. Add these pieces to the blender along with honey/maple syrup, yogurt ,bananas and water.
After blending in ingredients pour the liquid into molds lined with silicone ice cube trays, muffin cups, or any other type of ice cube tray. Cover the molds with plastic wrap, place in freezer to set.
-Remove from mold when frozen solid, serve at room temperature (or slightly chilled). Keep refrigerated and discard unused portions after 24 hours due to risk of food poisoning.
Do not freeze again once thawed because freezing will break down cell structure that makes Watermonelon healthy for your pet’s body system.
This recipe should yield about six servings depending on how much you fill each popsicle mold/paper cup – one serving per Watermelon Popsicle.
Keep tabs on how long these WaterMelon Popsicles are in the freezer as you don’t want to keep them there for too long and have it turn into a popsicle brick.
Pro Tip: Watermelons are often on sale at grocery stores near the end of summer, so keep an eye out for deals if you want to get ahead on this recipe plan well in advance! Cats that have sensitive stomachs may need to be introduced gradually to the Watermelon Popsicles.
Risks: Watermelons may contain harmful bacteria when not washed properly, so make sure you wash them thoroughly before feeding it to your pet! Watch for signs of digestive upset such as vomiting or diarrhea. If any symptoms arise contact a veterinarian immediately.
